Collage and Journaling
Workshop
Come explore playful possibilities with Mary E. Knippel, local
free-lance writer and Creativity Mentor, as she discusses how incorporating such hands-on activities as journaling, collage making, beading
and paper craft arts help bring harmony to body-mind-spirit
energies. As a
Creativity Mentor, Mary encourages everyone to embrace their Creativity to reclaim their confidence, composure, spunk, and spontaneity, sense
of well-being, calm, imagination, patience, curiosity and spirit. As Brenda Ueland said so eloquently in If You Want to Write,
“Everybody is talented, original and has something important to say…but finding that something important involves embracing creative
idleness.” Bring your sense of adventure and be prepared to indulge in some delightful diversions designed to yield insightful
results.
Create a visual journal page:
Collage, from the French “to stick,” is regarded as a work of visual art made from an assemblage of different forms; creating a new
whole.
Combine images and words to create stories rich in imagination and
depth.
Journalwriting is a creative,
empowering path to self-discovery and
change as well as a connection to working on our inner life and outer relationships.
It is a safe place to
vent, a trusted friend who always keeps confidences, and a tool for healing your body, mind and spirit.
People who have attended workshops said:
It was fun.
It caused me to stretch. I have to work at being
creative.
It helped me see the value of taking time to “play” and let
loose.
I liked using my creative side and using the visuals to
tell my story.
I like to journal and did not think of using pictures until
this workshop.
I have journaled before, but this gave me a whole new
meaning. I enjoyed it immensely.
It was interesting and entertaining. It opened up my eyes
to how I could start journaling.
It showed different ways for me to tape into creativity,
allow more communication and self discovery.
